Food and creativity at the Stove 2014 – 15

We worked with the Stove Network from October 2014 to May 2015 to explore ideas for a cafe in their new building on Dumfries High Street, which opening in April 2015.

The Stove Network asked Open Jar Collective to gather ideas and viewpoints about the creation of a café space. How might it work? Who could be involved? How does it fit with the creative vision of the Stove?

We spoke to food producers, food enthusiasts, cafe owners, artists, food growers, social entrepreneurs and potential partners to gather ideas about the opportunities, challenges, practicalities and vision for a space to meet and eat at the Stove.

We also hosted a gathering of food enthusiasts, ran a workshop with local school students and had a public Bannock making event as part of the House warming event for the building.
